There are 2 recommended calculators for my class, TI-30XS Multiview and Casio fx-300ES PLUS.  The Casio is a cheaper calculator and is my preference; it sells for $11.99 at Costco.  Why get one of my recommended calculators?  Because I have emulators on my computer so it is easier for students to follow along to enter the correct keystrokes.  As you know, there are many calculators on the market and it is very difficult for me to determine the correct operation of all the different models.

Although not necessary at this point, graphing calculators are more necessary in the senior math courses.  See this for more information, Programming Calculators.
